Following her success at a number of shows on the continent in 2024, the FCI (Fédération Cynologique Internationale - https://www.fci.be/en/) has confirmed that Yazz (Neblina do Vale de Fermedo at Zenabraao) has been awarded the title International Junior Champion. She is the first UK Portuguese Podengo to win this title and we're proud as proud can be.
Thanks to Diana and Sally for their help on the campaign and to Yazz's breeder, Sergio Freitas, for trusting us with this special young lady.

Fizz (Eximus Vis Bathory Aria at Zenabraao) did us proud and flew the flag for Zenabraao at Crufts 2025. She showed her little paws off and went really well in Junior Bitch. About 99.9% of those watching thought she had it in the bag but the other 0.1% was the judge, who only gave her third place. Oh well...
Luis (Pastel de Bacalhau de Viamonte at Zenabraao) was in a very large Open Dog class and was unplaced. Likewise Yazz (Neblina do Vale de Fermedo at Zenabraao) was unplaced in Open Bitch, a class she has to enter despite being quite young as her continental wins force her to go into Open in the UK.
We photographed and wrote the current NPPA newsletter with loads of pictures from Crufts and you can download it from here: https://www.nppa.org.uk/podcast

Luis and Yazz were in Belgium in mid-December to fly the flag for UK podengos at four shows over a long weekend: the 131st - 134th Brussels Dog Shows. And didn't they do well:
Luis (Pastel de Bacalhau de Viamonte at Zenabraao): competing in the smooth-haired class, he won Best of Breed with a rating of 'Excellent' at all four shows; a CAC at each show; two CACIBs (they were only on offer at two of the four shows); and the title Belgian Winner. The judges were delighted to see a true primitive type.
Yazz (Neblina do Vale de Fermedo at Zenabraao): also in the smooth-haired class, she won Best Opposite Sex with an 'Excellent' rating at all four shows; a CAC at each show; two CACIBs; and the title Belgian Winner. All four judges said they don't think it is too long before she will push Luis very, very hard for BoB.

Luis was in the Netherlands in early December and did really well: he won Best of Breed with an 'Excellent' rating, a CACIB and a CAC in two shows: The Fryslan Cup and The Tulip Cup. He then competed in The Dutch Winner Show where he won his class with another 'Excellent' rating but was pipped to BoB, but still picking up a Reserve CAC and Reserve CACIB. The boy done good!

Brilliant news for Yazz: her Junior CACIB at the Eurodogshow on top of her previous wins in Belgium meant she qualifies as a Belgian Junior Champion. We've received this certificate from the Belgian Royal Canine Society (Yazz superimposed on it by us) in recognition of her achievment. Go Yazz!!!!
November 2024
The Eurodogshow was held in Kortrijk, Belgium on the 16th November, 2024 and both Luis (Pastel de Bacalhau de Viamonte at Zenabraao) and Yazz (Neblina do Vale de Fermedo at Zenabraao) did well. Luis is pictured here with the trophy he won.
Luis: rated 'Excellent' and awarded Best of Breed with a CACIB.
Yazz: rated 'Excellent' and awarded Best Junior and Best Opposite Sex with a Junior CACIB.
November 2024

As before, they managed the same results in each day winning the highest possible awards:
Luis: rated 'Excellent' and awarded Best of Breed with a CAC (Nationale show) and a CACIB (Internationale show).
Yazz: rated 'Excellent' and awarded Best Junior and Best Opposite Sex with a Junior CAC (Nationale show) and a Junior CACIB (Internationale show).
